Lime Pointing Hayle West Cornwall

Here are some pictures of the preparation and repairs we had to do before we could start pointing. The stonework had been eroded and in some cases had completely fell away.

We had to find a local reclaimed stone to match the original for repairs.

The prep and repairs were finished so we could begin repointing. Here are some shots of us pointing. At this stage the lime mortar needs to go off, preferably for 24 hours before it can be beaten back.
Here are some shots of the Bridge mid way through the project and also Here's Tom beating the lime back into the joints. This is practical as well as aesthetic.
In order for the water to evaporate the mortar has to have a stipple effect.
